I've been cracking my knuckles for over 15 years now and I know it's bad and I'd like to stop but I can't!?

Question:
I tried to just... not crack it, and then the pressure builds in my joints and then my fingers crack at nothing, and then I have to start all over again.
I also crack my toes and my back, any ideas on what I should do to stop?

Answers:
Awesome. I love cracking my toes and I can't stop it either. The scientific reason we have trouble stopping a habit like this, is often times people, (like me), have what is called an "addictive personality". Meaning that I am prone to "habitually" do something when I am nervous. In order to actually "quit" popping my toes, I would need to replace that "habit" with something else..but I like popping my toes too much to stop. You may try something like a "worry stone", which you can find on line or in some stores. Basically, you rub the stone, which is usually kept in VERY close proximity to you, when the need to "pop" comes up.
Don't think about it. It will help you. Just don't do it. Or... you could remove your bones. lol
i have been cracking my knuckles to but my fingers are really long people say your knucles get beigger they dont, if it helps you dont stop nothing will happan, well for me at least nothing has happan... i do it wen i am nevers lol or when i meet rock stars... :D
I crack my neck and fingers all the time too. I wish I could crack my back myself. I have to go to a chiropracter for that. She said basically all you are doing is getting air out from between your joints. It wont cause arthritis or big knuckles or anything like that.
