How long will it take?!?

Question:
I fractured my ankle and now I have a boot. I'm 17 and am in pretty healthy condition. So how long do you think it will take for it to be all better. It is fractured along my tibia or however you spell that ha. Thanks!

Answers:
You don't say if it is a 'green twig fracture' or a full break or if it had to be set and if so was it set in the Ortho Dr's office or did it require ssurgery? Also is the break near a growth plate? ... All those things play into how long a break takes to heal. .. I take it this is a stress break or a crack. And as you don't say if the Dr said anything about it being near a growth plate, I would "guess" 4 weeks in the boot. And then another 2 or 3 where you are at risk for rebreaking it so you have to take things easy. But that's only a guess. Ask your Dr.
I am amazed the ortho Dr didn't tell you how long it'll be.
if its a hairline fracture -it probably wont take all that long to heal-there is not really enough info -any fracture usually takes about 6 weeks to heal-but i believe a hairline fracture will heal a little sooner
i have shattered both my shin bones and it may be healed but it hurts every day, you will be able to get back to normal activities in about 8 to 10 weeks with full speed, it took me 5 months to get out of the cast and another couple with rehab and the boot! so feel lucky it isn't that bad. when you do start to run again make sure you take ibuprofen and ice it a lot to reduce the swelling and pain, buy my ankle and leg hurt every day especially in the cold.
