What painkillers are you taking for fibro and do you think you are taking too much?

Question:
Taking 60mg dihydrocoodeine and Synap Forte x3 a day. Sometimes 10 mg valuim per day. Other meds are Effexor and Amitryptiline. Is that a lot?

Answers:
I take Effexor and Amitriptiline, and both have worked wonders for me.
It does kind of worry me that you're taking three narcotic drugs, especially since narcotics are not known to be effective against FMS over the long term. Were they all prescribed by the same doctor?
Have you tried physical therapy or trigger point injections? Both have made a huge difference in my fibro and are quite a bit healthier than taking painkilers.
Were I you, I'd drop this doctor and find a pain management specialist. Your current doc seems a bit too willing to dole out the opiates. Drugs like those are best used over the short term and have a high probability of addiction.
I'd explore every single option you have before falling back on narcotics. I've always told my doctor that I prefer fibro pain to narcotic addiction.
I only take amitriptylene. (or however it is spelled!)

I've tried MANY narcotic and non-narcotic pain medications. None of them worked.

If you are taking these medications under the supervision of a doctor, they are helping your symptoms, and the side effects aren't worse than the fibro sympoms I would say it is just right, and that i'm very jealous ;)
