HELP! i just pierced my own cartilage what the hell do i do?

Question:
ok so last nite i pierced my cartilage with a safety pin and my ear is incredibly sore, i want to take the safety pin out and replace it with a real earring. how long should i wait and is there anything i need to know! bahhh help please

Answers:
Take it out and sterilize it, then go to Claire's or Wal Mart and have it done, its only $12.00! If you take it out right now its gonna close up immediately so you wont have time to get a real earring in it. Damn!
you should have asked first if you should pierce it yourself anyways.. you improperly pierced your ear...its gonna be sore it might even be infected....ice it is the best i can think of besides not doing it in the first place..
you shouldn't have done it by yourself, first of all (trust me, BAD IDEA!!). but you definitely need to take that safety pin out. replace it with REAL golden earrings, otherwise it might turn green, and get infected. also, clean it REALLY, REALLY well with rubbing alcohal, then apply neosporin in, and around the pierced area. I would also suggest icing it.
leave the gold earring in for at least 2-4 months. good luck! (:
why didn't you get it done at a store or the mall? it would of hurt way way way less - go to somewhere where you would normaly get it done and ask, lol, you wont do that again will ya?
Take it out.
NOW.

I had a diy cartilage also. The hardest thing for me to sleep on. A week after, a huge lump formed and caused alot of pain. I took care of it like a baby. Cleaned it, sanitized the earrings. But in the end, that lump is still there. Of course I got it repierced by a prof. But still, the placement is probably not the right one. So from my experience, I suggest you take it out.
