Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome, Best Treatments?

Question:
We would like to know what treatments are available and what actually works?

Also we are in the process of trying to find a doctor in the central NJ area, Do you know of any good ones?

Thank You

Answers:
There are no real specific treatments that work for every patient, but typically medications do not work well. There are many treatments available like sympathetic blocks, physical therapy, hyperbaric therapy, IV treatments (such as Ketamine), desensitization, Spinal Cord Stimulator (which has been the best treatment for me- it has reduced my pain by about 60-80% since it doesn't work properly right now, but when it works properly it gives me 100% pain relief), and there are many other treatments out there. Here are a few helpful websites in knowing what to look for and some helpful resournces to help you find a doctor http://www.rsds.org/4/resources/finding_...

Here is a website about Spinal Cord Stimulators www.ans-medical.com and www.rsds.org is a helpful website about treatments, support groups, awarness, and many other things about RSD/CRPS. Here is some more information about treatmtnes for RSD/CRPS http://www.rsds.org/3/treatment/index.ht... Feel free to e-mail me if you would like. Good luck!
Good Luck! I am taking Tegretol, have tried Lyrica and Nurontin ~*sp~. It sucks. Nothing seems to help. I tried some Lidoderm patches 5%, they did help some, more than the effin pills..Vicodin helps too, but trying to get them is a pain in the butt, everyone thinks your a pill junkie because idiots out there take them like M & M's and ruin it for the ones who really need them..
Have you tried a Yahoo search for "reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome" + treatment (OR cures OR remedies)?
RSD is different in every person. Because of that, there is no treatment that helps everyone. What helps Person A might not help Person B or Person Z. There is no cure...and as far as effective treatment...during the beginning of my RSD, Neurontin and specialized physical therapy (from a therapist trained in RSD) helped. Now...nothing helps. And just because a nerve block helped this week doesn't mean it will help next month. So, you've just gotta find a good pain specialist who can manage your care. Good luck! I wish I could help. WE MUST FIND A CURE FOR THIS!!!
