first ice it so the swelling goes down. Ibuprofen helps with swelling also. then when u have sports or whatever, wrap it with Ace bandage. elevation above your heart makes the swelling and inflammation go down too
doctors can't really do much about ankle sprains.. trust me, i've been there 1000 times =P they only recommend resting but that doesnt even heal it fully. just keep icing and elevating. after 3 days, heating it will help the stiffness go away too. to make it stronger, write the alphabet with your ankle. it will hurt but it should strengthen the tendon around the ankle
