I hate it so much?

Maybe this will help motivate you and maybe it won't. I'm 28 years old and I have scoliosis that was never treated. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't have a backache, whether I try to use good posture or not. In my mid-20's I started having a lot of hip pain too because scoliosis causes uneven hips. There's nothing I can do about it now without major surgery that isn't even really recommended. If I'd had the option of getting it treated with a brace 13 years ago, I would have. TRUST me.I'm sure it's really uncomfortable and it seems impossible, I don't know what it feels like for you. But those backaches will get worse...and then there'll be nothing you can do about it. But don't just give up...you really will care down the road.
How thoughtless are you? Your parents spent $2000 to help you get better and you're basically giving them the finger. Get over the fact that it is uncomfortable. Surgery is going to be A LOT more painful then wearing a back brace. Stop being a brat and suck it up.
Stop being ridiculous. It's a similar scenario to people with braces: they hurt, you don't want them, but THEY'RE GOOD FOR YOU IN THE LONG RUN.
When I was your age I had a back brace also, actually two. I had to wear one during the day that kept me straight and at night I had to sleep in one that turned my body the opposite way of my curves. I was the same as you...I tried wearing them, but always ended up taking them off. They are very uncomfortable and difficult to sleep in. My advice to you is to try and wear it a little more everyday. The first few nights wear it for an hour or so, then 2 hours a night for a few days after that and so on. Even if you just add on 15 more minutes everyday, it will help. Eventually you will get a little more used to it. Also, I think this is bad, but I used to take tylenol pm sometimes to help me fall asleep with it on. I lucked out and I ended up having a growth spurt that straightened my back out just enough that I didn't have to wear the brace anymore. Good luck to you. I really do feel your pain. E-mail me if you need someone to vent to. : )
Consider yourself fortunate that you ONLY have to wear it at night. Some people have to wear them day AND night. Your body will adjust to it and you will be able to sleep with it on. This is only the first night with it...give it a chance. Obviously your parents care a lot about you and your health since they forked over 2 grand for this brace. They don't want you to have back problems now or worse ones later in life. I'm sure it does suck, but what's worse, not wearing it now and having backaches and possibly needing surgery to fix it (which will be even MORE money for your parents to spend) or just wearing it at night and eventually getting used to it?
