How can I train myself to sleep on my back?

Question:
I had neck surgery (2 Fusions) and I need to learn to sleep on my back... I cant seem to fall asleep...and when I sleep on my side i eventually roll on my belly and i wake up with a sore neck and muscle spasms. PLEASE HELP!!!

Answers:
When I had my fusion done in the cervical spine, I found it easiest to make a wedge-shaped pile of pillows, so you are not flat, and you can put pillows on each side of you so that you don't turn over. It also helps me to elevate my knees and/or lower legs a bit, as if I am reclining in an easy chair. Even so, I still have nights when I cannot get comfortable, or wake up with that horrible dead hand pain...
I suggest you could see your doctor for a proper exercise so not to affect your surgery. I think exercising your affected neck could help you on your problem.
