Is it unhealthy to live near a cell phone tower?

You will get many arguments for and against the effects against us. Fortunately, the American Cancer Society has provided this article :

http://www.cancer.org/docroot/ped/conten...

which explains in full detail the reasons why it is believed that cell towers do not cause cancer. Many people are afraid of the unknown and would rather side on the side of safety. That's understandable. With that said, I work in this industry, have been very close to cellular antennas, paging antennas and others. I used to live across the street from several towers that had many different technologies on these towers, and experienced no effects whatsoever other than great cell coverage! :) The federal government adopted the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which essentially tells you that the Federal government feels that this is safe for us. I thought I might mention that cell towers exist all over the world, not just in the U.S.

With all of that said, I would say that the height of the tower and how close it is to my property would help sway me as to whether or not I would buy a house close to a tower. I had someone ask me about a tower that was 12' tall (property is on a mountain) and 10' from his property. I would not build close to that tower. However, most towers are much, much taller than that, and therefore the signal is far over your head or house.
According to the scientific experts, cell phone towers do not emit radio frequencies at a level or intensity that is harmful to humans, just as TV or AM/FM radio waves don't hurt people. However, there are mixed stories of people getting cancer from holding their phone to their ear too much, so you would have to know that while the experts and scientists say no problem, the jury may still be out. I would consider the proximity to cell towers one factor in deciding where to live (like living near a nuclear plant or under high power lines).
It depends. Did you just close on a house? Yes, its fine.

If not, I wouldnt live near one if I had a choice. It isnt good to live near electrical wires, especially but not only the high voltage or high tension towers.
Electricity gets lost from wires. If you can hear it, its too much for safety-I dont care who's in office that says what.

There isnt enough known about the cellular situation (yet). It operates in the same electromagnetic spectrum.
You have to remember things like oil companies are allowed to release up to a limited amount of mercury in the water. I guess a safe limit. Food companies are allowed a certain number PPB of insect parts in candy bars. I guess a safe limit. On and on.
Whatever the govt (US) says is safe, it doesnt mean risk doesnt exist, just risk is low. But there, dont forget. Just have to think for yourself and protect yourself. The EPA will go just so far.
