Lumbar puncture?

Question:
Is it possible to have lumbar puncture when your pregnant?

Answers:
It is possible -pregnancy does not mean that you cannot have a lumbar puncture.

You are asking the wrong Q however. The reason for having a lumbar puncture is not related to pregnancy.
A lumbar puncture is used in diagnosis for example meningitis or certain types of brain haemorrhage.
These conditions are serious -being pregnant would.. not affect the decision to do an LP if clinically necessary because of the reasons to do it.
A lumbar puncture on the mother when pregnant is not doing a LP on the baby
I have just asked my partner he is a first aider, he said they would only give a lumbar puncture if it was really necessary to do so, you are not in fact inserting the needle by the unborn child so it would be safe x
Yes, especially when done by an experienced person.

Saddle blocks, given at time of delivery was a special type of LP given to alleviate birth pains. They have largely been replaced by epidural blocks which are similar, but the needle does not enter the subdural space.
