I had my big toe nail ripped off will a new one grow back?

i lost both mine, and yes they grew back but it took about 6 months to grow back completely , and wouldn't ya know it, because in my case the nail bed was damaged, they fell off again twice more before they stayed on... they are fine now 2 years later..
