Anyone ever had a heel spur? I've had 2 injections of cortisone and no relief.?

Question:
My doc is sending me to orthopedic surgeon. Please let me know if surgury has worked for you. I'm in chronic pain.

Answers:
My mother has suffered with heel bone spurs for many years. She has had surgery several times to remove them/grind them down but they have always come back. My mom told me a couple years ago that my brother has them too and has had surgery with only temporary relief because they came back (or new ones grow). You may have to find additional relief using orthotics.
Yes I have had heel spurs they look like a thorn and is growing off of the bone. The surgery will either grind it down or remove it all together the surgery is successful once your are heeled.
You need to purchase new shoes that support you.
Yes, I had a heel spur and I know it is VERY painful. I had surgery. After surgery be prepared for having a cast for up to six weeks. My heel hasn't bothered me since.
Orthotics might help. They are custom made by a foot doctor to fit inside your shoe (not the ones they sell on infomercials!)
i have heel spurs and its not the bone that hurts but the tendon that was stretched. i took motrin for 10 weeks about, made sure i wore good shoes. it started when i wore cheap shoes and walked on hard floors, and caused inflammation. so thje advil will help with the pain and reduce inflammation. it does take a while to recover but i never considered surgery. this was over 15 years ago and i havent had any throuble since then.goodluck;)michele
