I have had lumbar spinal fusion operation since 4 years. I have fluid drainage from operation site.?
Question:
Answers:
That's a really pretty unpleasant possible side effect from spinal fusion that people don't think about (one of many). That's why Chiropractors try to prevent surgeries as much as possible. The wound should be closed. The Dr. should be able to give you some reasonable idea why it is happening. If they can't get a second opinion.
PS: Just a thought. Are they sure it's not cerebro-spinal fluid? (CSF is the fluid that runs through your spinal cord and brain, and is not supposed to leak.)
You may very well have syringomylmia...visit the web site ASAP.org and join for free, and go to the lounge chat area. There, you will see other people with the same problem. It is important to do this. I crushed my discs in my neck and had C5, C6 created out of my hip bone to make new discs. Then, C6 was fused to C7...a few years ago. Now, I am having trouble with my spinal fluid. Please, just put ASAP.org onto your web search, and read about others with this same problem, who will be delighted to answer questions for you,
If there isn't an obvious infection at the site, you may have a stitch abcess, where your body objects to a piece of suture, and refuses to heal around it. If this is what it is, then you will need minor surgery to take it out and remove the granular tissue around it. A fairly simple operation that will require general anaesthesia.
Good luck
