Kidney pain lower left side of my back?

Question:
I am a very healthy 17 year old, I have no other problems, It is my lower left side of my back(not at all on my right). I have had it for quite some time now about a year and its a dull pain and when I drink more water it goes away. I don't see how it could be that bad because im healthy and 17. I do take Meds maybe this is contributing. It's not like im super dehydrated I drink water a bit, but I need extra for it to go away( to the point where I have to go to the bathroom often) theres no burning or anything associated with kidney stones except slight dull pain

Anyhow is this muscle or kidney pain and how to get rid of it?.
And is it bad like I need to see a doctor, I already did and he said it could be a few things and if it got worst to go back but its not really worse it just comes and goes with a dull pain
and last should I sleep in a different position. I sleep on my right but it hurts on my left.(not serious enough that I need pain killers)

Answers:
Kidney stones simply love water and if you give them what they want in large amounts they stop harassing you (temporarily) as you have discovered.

Pain in your lower back (especially a sharp stinging pain) is one of the symptoms of kidney stones.

An alkaline diet may help to gradually dissolve kidney stones as most kidney stones are caused by too much acidity but this takes a long time.

Kidney stones can be left untreated unless they are causing real problems and surgery or the catheter treatment with ultrasonic vibration to break up the stone or stones into small fragments that pass out naturally is a last resort.
Your kidneys are very serious

Tell you parents and get to the doc

Better safe than sorry
If you had kidney stones you would know it, they hurt severely, my husband gets them and they have made him drop to his knees in pain, I have had two kidney transplants and have had a lot of kidney infections, they usually(with me anyway) cause pain to my whole lower back, it seems that it is really annoying you so you may want to get another doctors opinion about what it might be, since you have had for such a long time, it may be more serious than your doctor thinks.
