I've always had problems with slouching too. My mother yelled at me until she was blue in the face and it didn't help. What finally worked for me was taking modern dance classes. I'm sure any sort of dance or gymnastics class would help. The point of the exercises is to strengthen the muscles in your back AND your front, because they work together to keep your back straight.
My instructor taught me that the key to good posture is proper alignment of the body and spine. Head above shoulders above ribcage above hips above knees above feet. Try it standing sideways in front of a mirror. Moving your feet apart about the width of your hips, next try bending at the hips, keeping your arms at your sides, without curving your spine. The goal is to make your entire body a 90 degree angle, and you'll have to hold your stomach and your back muscles to keep your spine from curving. Keeping your head straight out, looking at the floor, you'll be less inclined to slump as you bend. It's hard work to start out, but it pays off. I usually practice about five slow repetitions along with my other exercises.
