Help to quit smoking?

I’ve been a smoker for 13 years, smoking anywhere from one to two packs a day. I know that it’s bad for my health and for the health of those around me, but I know I can’t just quit cold-turkey.
Several years ago I tried Zyban, which worked great at the time, but after a few months I had a stressful situation come about and started again. That was the last time I quit.

Does anyone here know of a good method that might suit me that they have tried and was successful? I’ve heard of everything from patches, to inhalers, pills, shots and laser therapy all of which seem kind of scary, but I know that if I am going to do this and quit I’m going to need something to assist me.

Any advice?

Greetings. And congrats on deciding to quit. I see lots of wrong stuff posted here for you. Especially all this about cold turkey being the best way, suckers, 10 days etc.

Your body goes thru a hell of a shock when you quit smoking and cold turkey is a last resort method and definitely the hardest. I personally used Chantix when I quit.7 months ago...and swear by it. After 35 years of smoking.finally something that worked.

I quit cold turkey 6 months ago and I refuse to go back that is no longer apart of my life i will always miss it but now im spending more time with my family and I bought a new truck with the money i saved. You have to vbe willing to make a commitment and really be proud of yourself for trying good luck!
I am in the middle of quit smoking myself. I drink lots of water and I diet and it has helped me cut down tremendously. I am at the point know that I am almost quit. So drink lots of water--this flushes out your systems of the impurities of smoking.
Well, i smoked for 14years and I just quit cold turkey!! I havn't smoked in 15days. I know that not everyone can do that. My parents got a prescription fro Chantex. They have been HEAVY smokers for over 30years and the doctor says that these pills will do the trick. I hope you are successful. I think the main thing is - deciding that you are DONE!! you have to have the right state of mind to quit.

I've been a smoker for 15 years. Im taking Chantix now (prescription) for 4 days, and Im losing the urge to smoke. Not at all the times when I want, but I've only smoked 4 today (4pm now). It even makes them taste bad. Everyone quits differently, but you should definitly give this a try. Good Luck!

Best way is quit cold turkey.
Get you some little suckers called Dum-Dums put one in mouth when you want cig.
You have to really make your mind up & you can do it.

I believe there is no way to quit except by your own will. I used to smoke round about 60 Lexington's a day, some times even more. Did this for a good part of 30 odd years. Then I just decided to quit, it's now eight years ago. Good luck, it's NOT easy. I still sometimes crave for a smoke.
there is only one way to quit and that is to just go cold turkey.

and if you believe in yourself you can, but if you start off by saying that you can't you will never. you are just looking at pleasing yourself when you take Zy whatever or use a patch etc. Check around to know if anyone has ever quit successfully using any of these props.

The tobacco company makes the cigarettes, and the pharma company makes the patches etc. Am sure there is a nexus somewhere.

remember this is only in your mind - when you quit you will have trouble with your body for a week or ten days and then thats it. in that period do not go near any smoker, do not go near a cigarette shop or a packet just abstain, abstain and abstain.

when you have a hangover or a stomach upset, you will yourself from indulging in your favorite food or drink, so dear this is the same situation,

i quit after smoking for 20 years and was doing about 3 plus packets a day. in that time, we smoked anywhere - aircraft, restaurants, offices etc.

good luck - just do do it. chuck the cigarettes out of the window and dont look or touch EVER once you have done this.
