My doctor refused my request for an MRI and Nerve Conduction Studies for my arms despite the fact that I have?

Question:
had problems with them for over 3 years and have had them both operated on and am still having problems. Isn't there a medical board I can go to? It is my health and I should have a right to demand these tests.

Answers:
If the doctor is a member of a physician team say at a hospital or clinic, you can bring it up to that board. You can also report to the A.M.A (American medical association). Most places will have a mission statement that will include you have the right to seek any medical care to alleviate your problems. In the meantime please find a new Dr. asap.
You can see a different Doctor!
You can see another physician.

The truth of the matter is that a patient can not "demand" a test. It is the responsibility of a physician to order "appropriate" tests when symptoms warrant. MRI's are not necessarily the best test for many conditions. Physicians are regularly reviewed to make sure they do not order unnecessary tests. Insurance companies are constantly doing this.

My advice is to see another physician for the purpose of a second and unbiased opinion. Sometimes it is best for both to have a fresh face. Don't walk in "demanding!" certain tests. Be open and honest as the new physician reviews your records. Be sure to get or have a copy of your medical records sent to the new physician, ideally well before your appointment.
