How does it hurt? Is it muscular pain? If so, stretch your quadriceps, hamstrings and hip flexors. Those get the most movement and stretch and contract a lot during running. You should always stretch a little before running and a lot right after, when your muscles are warmed up.
For your quads, stand and hold your foot behind your butt. Press the hips forward to stretch the quads more. For your hamstrings, do a slight squat with your back straight. Lift your butt up. For hip flexors, do butterflies.
Okay, Lift up your foof and try to get it to reach your butt.
-or-
Sit in "child pose" Sitting on the floor with your heels touching your butt.
It also depends on how you hurt yourself...The bone in your thigh is your femur...You could have bruised it slightly, and in that case it needs to be iced. You also could have pulled your quad, which is the muscle there. Just take rest!
Whether stretches are wise depends on the kind of pain. Is it the soreness that comes with muscle overuse? Stretches might help. Slow and easy, and no bouncing.
Your coach should know the stretches for quads and hamstrings, the two main muscle groups in the thigh.
However, if the pain is sharp and involves the joint at all, even a little, stretching is counter-indicated.
