Help my back hurts and my new doctor doesn't care.?
Question:
Answers:
getting strong meds is always hard from a new doc because of the chance for abuse. you may want to try a pain management doctor they are more likely to give the good stuff.
Check in with your local hospital. They usually have a physician referral line. I can understand the heesitation regarding OxyContin because of its potential for addiction and abuse, however if it has been documented that you have had success with it and never abused it in any way, I cannot see what the problem is.
I had the same problems with my back, and I went to a chyropractor. He didn't give me any pain meds, but advised me on what OTC drugs I could take. I came in for regular adjustments, and used an ice-pack on my back three times a day (20 mins on, 20mins off). If this has been going on for so long, you seriously should see a chyropractor. They can either adjust your back until it's better, or they can send you to a specialist for surgery (which is what we thought I'd have to do for a while). But, your doctor is right not to give you the pain meds you want. You're not supposed to take those medicines for long-peroids of time, because you could become addicted, and your body could become immune to it. You need to find another way to permanently relieve the pain by going to a chyropractor, and stay off of those medications for a while.
Kitty, you and me know you are doctor shopping for meds.
I just went through hell and finally got off taking oxy ,vics and norcos. all opiates.
Tell me, do you get real sick and cannot function when you are out?
Depression, no sleep no eat, and diarhea for the first weeks when you are out?
Then you are addicted and need to find subutex. It is your only miracle that lets you stop.
I can tell you that anytime after 2-3 weeks of taking oxy and lortab, you are addicted and will always freak out when you run out or get close to running out. I have been addicted for 8 years and it only gets worse and worse and harder and harder to find doctors and meds.
I am telling you this so you can stopo now while it will be hard, it will be much harder later.
Also if you get into an accident or pulled over while tacking these narcotics you will do jail time. My best friend just did, he never thought it would happen to him so he kept on taking them when I quit and he went to jail.
If you are truthfuil with yourself, you will know inside that you are hurting from not having your narcotics and play the pain up a bit to get them. I have done all that.too.
After a few years of taking them, they turn on your body and create much more pain then you started with. They will stop working and you will be in agony with no direction to turn.
Get subutex and you will be fine and can move on
This makes me soooooo MAD, what is with these doctors!! I have been through the same thing. And quite frankly I am sick and tired of being in pain because these professionals cannot tell the difference between a junky and a pain patient with MRI's and medical records to back it up.
First of all any doctor that wants to give flexeril for herniated discs shouldn't be treating patients anyway.
If she is a doctor that your insurance directed you to, then you should request another. If not then you should turn her in, it is illegal for her not to treat a patient for pain when they have documentation. (Believe me I have had the battle). You can also ask your old doctor to consult with her if you still have a repore with them. If you are using Hospital Clinic type doctors then you go to the Patients Advocate office and explain you situation, they are there for the patients and are usually very helpful.
You condition is not one to be ignored, it not treated properly then you can end up with Chronic conditions that will effect your future tremendously. Oxycontin 20mg is a very low dose, so it should be clear that you are not drug seeking.
You may also consider looking for a Pain Management Clinic in your area, that is what I finally did and after 2 1/2yrs I am finally being treated properly for my pain and the doctors there are truly trained to recognize my symptoms and work accordingly.
I know this answer is pretty unorganized, and I'm sorry, I just still get so upset over these doctors. There are way to many people out here suffering with back conditions, because they are affraid to prescribe because of the junkies.
