Is my cartilage piericing infected?

Question:
it was fine and healed since i got it piereced. then i put a cheap earring in. and it hurt so i took it out. cleaned my ear. tryed to put a good earing in but it started bleeding and i couldnt get the earring through. so i just left it out. then a day or 2 later there was a little lump of the back of my ear and i put the earing back in it was bleeding a little bit. it doesnt hurt when theres an earring in it now. what should i do? is it infected?

Answers:
It sounds like infection is possible ...in that case clean with neosporin not alcohol because that kills many of your bodies natural defenses and leaves an open wound. I would also consider letting your ear close up.
It also could have been an allergic reaction to nickle. A majority of people are allergic to nickle (including me). So that cheap earring could have caused your ear to swell and then when you left it out for 2 days your ear started to close up (it's very common for cartilage piericings to close up faster then the ear lobe.) If it gets any worse go to a dr.
Yes. The piercing you've got is infected. Try not to wear any earrings for a few days and instead use a stud to replace the earring. Also, use alcohol to clean the piercing and there might be yellowish pus developing over the next few days. Squeeze the pus out and clean the piercing again. It should be alright after that.
Its probably infected. Leave out the earrings for some weeks and apply some antibiotic cream you can buy without a prescription at a drugstore. Let it heal. Then use good quality earrings. You could be allergic to the metals used in cheap earrings. The hole might just close up altogether. If so let it be and after some months try to get it pierced once more. Whats important is that you heal first.
Sounds like it. Don't put cheap jewellery in as you know it bothers you.

You should clean it with a salt rinse solution or H2Ocean spray regularly. Good luck.
I had good luck leaving a good quality piercing in while my ear healed. It seemed to allow the pus a way out, while I cleaned and squeezed on at least a daily basis. Neosporin is great, and I would clean with either betadine or hydrogen peroxide.

Side note, if it's a fresh piercing and you want your ear to stay pierced, leaving the earring out is not a good idea.
