I sprained my ankle and i want to know how severe it is.?

Question:
I was doing a back peadaling drill at football and on my last step, i landed awkwardly on my left fooot, heard a crack and went down. I waited a few minutes and i got up and started using it again and didnt have a whole lot of trouble with it for the rest of the practice. When I got into my truck too leave, it started throbbing with pain and when i got home it was really swollen. it's been about a week now and I've tweaked it a couple times in practice and it's still swollen and it still throbs with pain out of nowhere, and it often feels really tired and sore. Can anyone help me?

Answers:
if you sprained your ankle, you need to stop going to practice for at least a week. From not only medical experience, but personal experience, its not going to get any better or less painful unless you stay off of it long enough to give it a chance to heal. Youve injured the muscles in your ankle and theyre not being given a chance to repair themselves.
If you continue on Like this, you could end up with chronic problems like arthritis or even rheumatoid arthritis. When it swells, put an ice pack on it with a cloth between the bag and your ankle. Leave it on for 20 minutes then leave it off for 20 minutes and keep it elevated with pillows or some such to take the swelling down.
Youre only making the sprain worse by continuing to use it. I know missing practice sucks, but thats better than missing the whole season because you didnt take care of it properly.
