Answers:    It is a jammed finger. These can take up to 4 weeks to restore to health. Just use the R.I.C.E. method. R-rest, don't play basketball until it's fully healed. I-ice, 15 minutes on, 10 minutes bad. C- cold compress. Use a cool wascloth wrapped around your thumb. E-elevation, when you're just watching tv or back bed, put your hand up on a pillow. Hope this help! (I'm only 11...so tolerate me know how this worls out!)
You probably just jammed it. A jammed finger can hurt for a long time. I would a short time ago ice it and cart anti inflamatory mdeication. It is one of those injuries that will heal beside time.
