Do they normally use a catheter in gallbladder removal?
Question:
Answers:
With most surgeries, a catheter is put in to drain any urine produced during the surgery (even for short surgeries, anesthesia is notorious for making the body produce more urine). I've never actually had a catheter, but seeing how many people with paruresis and other problems that keep them from peeing use them on a day-to-day basis, it can't possibly be that bad. The worst that will happen is it may burn the first time you pee normally after using a catheter.
I assume you man a urine catheter. I did not have one when I had my gallbladder removed. Unless something doesn't go well and they want you on bedrest for a while afterwards - I dont see any reason for them to use one.
it is used ,so that no urine leaks out and you are asleep when they put it in anyway=even if you were awake ,it doesn't hurt

No they don't. They just put you under anesthesia and make three incisions in your belly and one in your belly button and insert a camera and instruments needed to remove it. It comes out through your belly button. There's no need for a catheter.
Hi,
They usually will put one in after you are in the operating room and asleep-( this will collect your urine while they do your surgery. and they will remove it before you wake up- unless their are complications or reasons to leave it in. Most of the time Gall bladder surgery is pretty routine and goes well without any problems...good luck.
gallbladder removal takes about an hour to do. Then you wake up and they boot you out of the hospital.least thats the way its done here in Ontario.
