A month or so ago after bitting into a brownie I felt pain in the upper left part of my neck right under my jaw. When I felt it there was a swollen lump or gland. The next day the pain and most of the swelling went away. A week later while drinking a slurpee I have drank before with no problems, the same thing happened. The same thing also happened after eating grapes a week ago then three nights ago I got that slurpee again and the lump came again but this time it hurt really bad. The more I drank the slurpee the more it hurt then i started to feel a horrible pain in the left side of my mouth right under my tongue. After I continued to drink the slurpee a liquid that was warm and didn't taste like spit came from under my tongue and most of the pain went away. Yesterday after eating a cherry the lump came back and went away. I went to my doctor and he told me to take claratin. I did this and nothing has changed. I used to drink that slurpee every day so i dont think thats the cause.
Answers:
Sounds like you have an inflammation of your salivary gland on that side. If you eat or drink anything tasty or sour and this is the problem, it will swell up. Try sucking on a lemon and see what it does.
If it makes it hurt and swell go back to your doctor and tell him. If it is an infection you can go on antibiotics, if an inflammation, anti- inflammatories.

Sounds like maybe a lymphnode problem I would seek another doctor for a 2nd opinion.
It sounds as tho you have a blocked saliva gland. This backs up with spit, swells, gets inflamed and you feel it as pain. Rinse with a half/half solution of peroxide and water twice a day for three days to see if it makes a difference. If not, you need to see your doctor.
Salivary glands. I had mine removed on my left side. Exactly where you are talking about.
The saliva gland builds up pressure and doesnt release the saliva as it should. Especially from spicy or sour foods.
