After you sprain your ankle how long does it take for the swelling to go away?

Question:

Answers:
It depends how intense the sprain is. If it is just a simple roll of the ankle, swelling will go down in as little as 2 to 3 days. If it was a high impact sprain, swelling could last up to a week or longer. You should rest the ankle, apply ice, wrap it (not too tight) and elevate it. Avoid hot showers, and heat rub ointments/ hot packs
up to a week remember to do RICE rest, ice, compression, elevation
You may still have some swelling even after 2-3 months but it doesn't mean you are not already well. It's just that the swelling around the ankle seem to take a long time to disappear completely.
