Ingrown Toenail?
Question:
What could I do to get rid of it besides going to the doctor? I would like to have it gone by Monday, but that might now happen . . .
Answers:
The best way to get rid of an ingrown toenail is to lift the edge of the nail that is imbedded, (causing the pain), and place a piece of toothpick or paper under the edge of the nail and clipping it straight across with a toenail or fingernail clipper. It should be better by tomorrow.
surgery
or JUST rip it off
It migth not be gone by Monday, but here is a good link to describe what to do. One thing to remember - keep your toe nails cut straight across, as a preventative measure. Keep them cut correctly and you may never have another one.

I had ingrown toenails for years till I finally did get them removed surgecally with a garuntee.
The best thing to do is get them removed by a podietrist, NOT A DOCTOR in a hospital. Doctor's know enough to do it but do NOT have the expertise to make it less painful and/or where to apply the number exactly. I had a VERY bad experience from this...
But, without going to a professional, a way you can help releive some of the pain is to soak your foot in epson salt water for a while then get some tweazers and nail clippers or something else that is sharp and cut on the sides to try to get what is giving you the pressure out.
However, they will grow back unless you go to a professional and they put a type of poison there that will kill the growth of the nail.
IF STILL you don't want to deal with a professional, you could try curling the toenail underneath itself. I was unable to do this but I know many whom have, though they still have to mess with their ingrown tonail problem almost every night.
Trust me, no matter what you do, it WILL hurt, the question is though how long do you wish to live with the pain?
You won't have time to see a podiatrist by monday nor would it be healed enough to do anything, so for now cut as much as you can out. Use the tweazers and/or nail clippers to pull it out. This will cause damage to your toe but is the only way to do it quickly that I am aware of.
You can TRY to get your nail separated from your skin but I wouldn't suggest it. Just go to a doctors.
I HAD THE SAME problem when I was younger. Don't wait it out either, just visit him sooner to solve the problem. I waited till it was so bad I couldnt walk on it and I went in the doctor gave me two choices to cut the nail, either way he told me it was going to hurt. But once he cuts off part of the nail, it won't grow back like that anymore. One is freezing the nail and then yank it off or use needles and yank. either way be prepared it is going to hurt, and you're gonna have to walk with a limp for a couple weeks. Then he'll probably give u some ointment to apply to it for the next couple of weeks.
Sometimes if it isnt so severe you can deeal with it yourself without goin to the doctor, but hearing that its really painful, and if you can barely walk without it hurting then I really suggest you go in.
GOOD LUCK DEAR!
I had to have mine removed. I was amazed at how deep the nail went into the side of the toe. After seeing this I just cannot imagine how on earth you could possibly get rid of this yourself. Better get to a good podiatrist.
