What can you do about deep sleeping?

Question:
Whenever I fall asleep, I fall into a deep sleep. Most of the time I can't even wake up, and this is with my alarm clock set. Sometimes I set my alarm and everything just to see if I'll wake up to it the next morning, but I always end up oversleeping. I don't know if I just turn off the alarm once it starts beeping, but if I do, I'm not aware of it. And its not like I sleep late or anything. I could sleep at 9:00 and still get up later than I would like. Does anyone have any tips on what I could do to actually wake up, or any idea what might be going on?
Thanks

Answers:
Move the alarm clock away from your bed, so you have to get out of bed to stop it. If it's not loud enough to wake you, then get one that is.

Try telling yourself right before you fall asleep to wake up at a certain time. I do this and never need an alarm clock.

Also try opening your curtains or blinds at night so the sun helps wake you up.
You could have chronic fatigue, which I have. I have actually carried on full conversations on the phone while sleeping and not remembered a darn thing when the person talks to me the next day.

I have found that I can force myself to wake up with an "old-fashioned" wind-up clock with huge bells on it - they can be found online under products for sleep disorders or, possibly, at a local store. I have the same thing and I hate it...but, I've also set the clanging alarm for an hour before I really have to get up so that, by the time I actually awaken, I still have plenty of time to get ready to leave! Good luck - most of my friends can't fall asleep or stay asleep and they hate me for being able to fall into a sound sleep.

Also - check with your doctor about narcolepsy and sleep apnea, along with the chronic fatigue.
If you didn't use to be that way, then you may be depressed. Just cheer up and calm down. Everything will be okay, just let it be. :)
see your doctor you may have a sleep dis order. today go to webmd
hi you should go see your doctor who will refer you to a sleep clinic ,there are a number of medical reasons why this is happening which need invetigastion , good luck
There are a lot of folks who can not seem to hear an alarm when they're asleep. Go to a truck stop such as Fly'n J, Travel America, Pilot..and get a "Screaming Meanie". this is not like a regular alarm clock. It is piercing shrieking loud. The warning on the label suggest not to use it around a cemetary, or you might wake the dead. It's battery powered, so you can take it anywhere. You set it like a timer, not like a clock.

Another good way to wake up without an audio alarm is with a strobe light. Get a timer that will turn the strobe light on. It won't make the kind of noise that peels the paint off the wall like the screaming meanie does, but it works for folks that don't hear an alarm.

Another possibility is, you might have a hearing loss.
