Answers:
It's possible your mother has a pinched nerve in the neck and that is why her hand is going numb. I recommend she try alternative doctors such as: acupuncturist or chiropractor. Many people get incredible success from these types of treatments.
My mom's neck was hurting her so bad that she couldn't even move her neck! My mom refused to take any western medicine as she thought that it could only relief the symptoms. She needed something that could cure her stiff/sore neck. She then went to see an acupuncturist and underwent 2 weeks acupuncture treatment. Believe it or not her symptoms went away!! Now she keeps it up with gentle exercise everyday. She's doing fine. I strongly recommend your mom to try alternative treatment.
