I have an elderly neighbor lady that is losing hair really bad. What could be causing it?

Question:
She's probably in her 70's, on up there, true. But I haven't seen anyone lose hair this much. I wonder if she's not eating good enough or something. Not enough nutrients?

Answers:
Yes nutrients can affect hair loss, especially B12 which is commonly lower in seniors. Poor thyroid function, and decreased kidney function can also affect hair. It is not that uncommon.
protein is one of the things that helps grow hair, other then that shes just old
Cancer usually is the cause. Kemotherapy also will cause hair to fall excessively. If that's not the case, then I'm sure she has it taken care of by a doctor
Silly questions like these have been known to leave people with precious little option but pull out their hair. And seeing as she's your neighbour...
