EXTREMELY painful blister on my heel?

Question:
I have a blister that is slightly bigger than a quarter on my heel. It has ruptured and I removed the liquid inside and sterilized it, then put on a Band-Aid. It is incredibly painful, much more so than any other blister I have ever had, and I have had many, many blisters. The pain is like little needles being shoved into my foot and is making it impossible to sleep or even walk. What should I do?? Is this normal for a blister this size?

Answers:
I've never had a blister that big before, so I'm not sure what's normal for one that size. As far as treating it, continue to keep it clean. To help it heal more quickly and to relieve some of the pain, try applying some vitamin E oil to it. Vitamin E is a fantastic home remedy for all cuts, scrapes, and blisters. It even works on burns. Try it, and you won't be disappointed.
THATS GOTTA HURT!!
you should not remove the liquid in the blister. It provides as a cushion to the raw skin.

Now u just have to wait till the skin dries up and try not to wear any footwear that will rub against the wound.
For starters, trash the heels you bought that did that to you. Next, keep it clean and leave it uncovered. You might want to use a liquid bandaid, but nothing else.
Take Band- Aid off. You want it dry, so new skin forms in it's place. Baby powder helps keep it dry if wearing socks.
You need to see a doctor because there is no need for that much pain and to make sure it does not get infected.
You definitely need to clean it well and put antibiotic cream on it to keep it from getting infected (if it isn't already..IE: red and feverish). I don't think it would be a good idea to use liquid band aid on it. A regular band aid would be fine to keep it protected, but a good idea just to use antibiotic cream and leave it uncovered when you can. If it doesn't start healing in a couple of days, I'd call your doctor.
You need to go the ER/urgentcare/ or family doctor. They will need to evaluate and make sure its not septic ( bacteria, etc). If you have walked w/o shoes on floors and outside, it increases your risk of infection. upon arrival they will triage you and determine your priority, if your pain is EXTREMELY painful you can take some asprin/tylenol/motrin to help. just make sure to bring the meds to the doctors. If the pain is literally a 10 on a 0-10 scale , you should go to the ER they will start you on a morphine IV drip. or local lidocaine. Hope that helps
Ooh, been there done that. First of all, get rid of the evil, evil shoes that caused it. No fashion statement is worth that kind of pain. I got a blister that size after wearing a pair of dress shoes (which even had heel protector inserts in them) to a convention once. What a nightmare, I could barely walk out of the conventional hall the blisters were so bad (on both heels of course).

Here are a couple of products that work wonders on blisters:
Band-Aid Advanced Healing Blister Cushions - my favorite, especially if you have to wear shoes again (just not the evil pair that caused the blister). Provides comfort where there was discomfort.

Walgreens Blister Relief - comparable to the Dr. Scholl's product, only cheaper.
