Digestive system?? how long?

I am sure it depends on the food and etc.but just to get an idea is good enough for me.

Answers:
Ingested food only remains in the stomach for 3-5 hours. During this time the food is soaked up with gastric juice which break down proteins in the food. In newborns, the gastric juice also breaks down fat and milk. The stomach can only absorb water, alcohol, glucose, some drugs, vitamins and minerals.
In the intestines food is further soaked with other digestive juices that break down remaining nutrients and absorb them. The transit through the small intestine lasts for about 3-4 hours. The passing through the colon lasts for an additional 2-3 hours and the feces are stored in the sigmoid portion of the colon until ready to release.
