Im only typing this with one hand, and my left index finger is in crazy pain. Im going to see a doctor, but i want to know whats wrong beforehand. Ok, i've had this pain for about 2 days, and its been festering. My whole finger is like stiff on account of pain and all I can do is hold it up or else it will throb. 2 days ago, I woke up and my finger ached, it was all swollen and red. Ok, so I washed it, soaked it, ect. Tremendous pain persisted I mean to the point where I cant even sleep. Today I look at and its slimy and raw and yellow at the cuticle and under the nail about half way. Looking at it gives me a hair raising feel all over my body... I broke some of my fingernail way in the front, when I peeled it off, there was a film of nail that went to the left side of my cuticle. I broke it off but there was a little bit of nail stuck there so I pulled that out, intense pain, but I really made nothing of it because i've done it before and this has never happened... please!help!

sounds like you may have a staph infection. When you tore your cuticle, the bacteria got into the space and form a little pocket. Inside that pocket is pus. They hurt like heck! It's good you are going to the doctor. incising and draining the infection will relieve the pain and you will more than likely need to be on a good anitbiotic.

sounds to me like blood poisoning, and you will need antibiotics. Good luck at the doctors.
