Why does my right wrist crack every time i bend it?
Question:
Why is this happening and what are some ways I can make it stop or lessen the cracking? Besides not bending my wrist.
Answers:
Usually, cracking that doesn't cause or relieve pain and doesn't get in the way of using the joint normally isn't something to worry about. However, what I don't know is: how long has this been going on? Is it in both wrists or just the one? Any swelling with it? Did you have an injury to the arm?
If you've always had this, then I wouldn't worry too much. But if it is new or causes any discomfort, or it didn't start until you had an injury, I'd get it checked out. Also, if it seems to get progressively more noticable, get it looked at. I wouldn't keep trying to reproduce it, either.
(I have a torn cartilage in my wrist that causes some popping, and if I show my patients the laxity in it too often, it actually gets more sore...so try to leave it alone and not pop it on purpose).
In any case, next time you see your primary care physician, or the nurse at school, ask them to take a quick peak just so you can know for sure if you need it more deeply examined or not.
Take care,
Definition: Do you need to worry about creaking and popping joints? Not usually.
Joint cracking, commonly in the ankles and knees when walking up steps, is usually a benign condition that you do not need to worry about. While the exact cause is hard to detect, you are not doing damage to the joints when you hear them crack.
If you have pain associated with the cracking joints, then you should be evaluated to make sure there is not an underlying problem. But the average snapping ankles, or creaking knees is not a problem.
my knees always crack when i bend down maybe you have a bad wrist
fillyfloopy is pretty much right, if there really isn't any pain with the cracking, you really don't have to worry about anything. It actually is not you wrist "cracking". You are not cavataing a joint if you can reproduce the cracking over and over again. It actually is a ligament or tendon that is rubbing over a bone in your wrist, kind of like a guitar string. Sometimes if you get someone to work out the tight muscles for your wrist, the tendon or ligament will be able to relax and the cracking will go away. Hope this helps
