Asked this earlier but didn't receive any answers, so I'm trying again... (weight issues)?
Question:
I fractured an ankle (and two other bones) in my left leg on 7/4/07.
I've been doing what little exercise that I'm capable of doing, and have refrained from over-eating, but I'm packing on the pounds.
Any advice?
Answers:
I broke my ankle running about 2 yrs ago and had to stay off it for awhile too.
Watching what I eat and eating alot less worked for me because I couldn't burn it off.
After about a month, I started doing what I could, floor exercises that didn't put any pressure on my ankle.
I did leg raises; slow, and in all directions, crunches, reverse crunches, and as many stretches as I could handle.
It really sucked for me because I am active and it seemed forever for it to heal. But it did and i'm back to normal.
Won't run on uneven pavement fast anymore though.
build muscle. it'll take your extra fat.(fat that didn't get burn)
i don't exactly remember how.
drink lots of water, eat nuts and raisins to increase metabolism
workout.
eat healthy.
eat slowly, because it takes awhile for food to digest, so
it takes awhile to be full after eating.
eating slowly will allow you to know when you're full to eat less.
don't sit in front of the tv while eating.
also allow your body to tell you when you're hungry, when it growls, eat.
do aerobic exercises
do 2 30min exercises then have a 20 min break you'll lose more wight than not taking breaks at all
play music that you enjoy, or music that makes you feel like dancing to you'll exercise more/longer
you can run in one place for 15 min per day or more.
or run up and downstairs. or jog/run/walk around your block.
then slowly increase the time, by 5 min per day.
and if you're gonna do sit-ups, cutches, pull=ups, etc. add 10 per day
starving will get you skinnier but at the end of it when you eat normally again your body will be saving it,
and you'll gain weight faster
like bears saving their food for the winter.
all these have been proven true

do crunches.
try to increase your muscle use as much as possible. But a good diet is to eat one serving of each food group at every meal. Make sure its one serving size according to the package not your own serving size.:)..and drink one tall glass of water before during and after each meal. With as much exercise that your body allows you to do, and eating right like this should help you shed soem pounds. I was a ballet dancer for 16 years before havign ym children adn i have NEVER been overweight, if you follow this it should work. Good luck and just try to build up as much muscle as possible on your leg.
Also make sure when you eat every meal it should take at least 10-15 minutes to eat. Maybe longer, dont rush , you'll be taking in more food that you realyl need
well you could always do exercises with your arms nd stomach.
drink lots of water.it really keeps you full.also try and live on all healthy foods.
also you could try walking the little that you can because 10000 steps burns 300 calories
Eat healthy. Avoid all processed foods. Veggies can't make you fat. Count calories.. try to keep it under 1500... etc.
Drink lots of water. It's typical to gain weight when you break a leg or ankle, because you aren't moving as much as you used to, and honestly, until it heals, you don't want to. Just drink lots of water. It will keep you hydrated, and limit the room in your stomach until you are able to get up and move around again.
I broke my ankle and I put on some weight. I was real self-conscious about my weight. Just eat healthy and drink a lot of water and thats all.
