First, are there blisters or did the skin slough away as in a 2 degree burn or is it just reddened like a first degree. If it's a 2nd degree burn and bigger than your palm, go to your doctor. They can give you silvadine (silver sulfadiazide) cream which is great for cooling the burn but helps it heal as well as protect you from infection. If it's small a loose dressing (NON ACEWRAP) will help protect blisters from damage. Blisters are our little God made dressings. If blisters are broken a loose dressing with some antibiotic ointment would be good to promote healing and lessen the chance of infection. If it's a first degree, leave it to the air. NO ACE WRAP! Do you need a tetnus shot???
HAAHA!
You only want to cover the burn if you have a bad second degree burn or worse, in which case that should be done by a doctor. For first degree burns... that's redness and pain, but no blisters, you want to keep it exposed so the dead skin can dry out and new skin can heal faster under it. A bandage will only rub against the burn and make it hurt more. As long as it's only a first degree burn, you can continue to use over the counter creams to ease the pain, but you shouldn't use those creams on bad burns. Otherwise, you just need to let it heal, not much you can do about it. Running it under cool water can also relieve the pain, but mostly while it's still a fresh wound.
no, it will compress, it will stick to your burn (which is very painful) and it will keep oxygen from getting to the wound, which is necessary for healing
are you sure you shouldn't see a doctor about it??
Jay knows what he's talking about!!
if it's raw or had a blister it's 2nd degree. you can put polysporin on it if it's small, and cover it with a bandage, either gauze or a band-aid if one fits. not an ace.
