Regarding Nose Surgery?

Question:
I have a very crooked nose which slants to one side and I believe it is affecting my breathing. I am going to see a doctor to get a referral to a specialist soon to find out for sure. I cannot breathe properly through one hole and this often makes me feel uncomfortable, my nose even hurts sometimes (but that may be a result of taking a pretty hard hit to the nose a few years ago, I never got it checked out). Other than that occurrence it is a birth defect, has not been broken before. Though the cosmetic aspect of a Rhinoplasty would be a plus, my main reason to do this would be for health benefits.

Based on my description,

1. Does it sound like my breathing is being obscured by the way my nose is?

2. Could a Rhinoplasty be covered by my insurance in this case? I live in Canada and I suppose we are known for "free health care" but I am not sure how surgery applies.

3. I have a mustache. In case of surgery would I have to shave it or any other part of my beard?

Thanks

Answers:
It sounds like you have a deviated nasal septum. This is a medical condition, and should be covered by your insurance.
