Lip swelled after eating new brand of potato chips, or possilbe seafood salad night before. Want to unswell?

Question:
I know my food allergies but did not eat those things when my upper lip slowly swelled. Took Benedryl right away, but it is not really feeling different and still feels puffy although it does not look that bad. It is bothersome and inside feels like the skin is raw. It has been over 24 hours and I hate to keep taking the Benedryl because it makes me drowsy. How long should this take to subside? I usually have multiple symptoms when a bad reaction occurs due to sole, halibut, and tilipia. Bee stings and certain drugs as well. Now I am stumped as to what this was from. The unknown seafood salad could have triggered it, but the new brand of chips and grapes or orange juice because we don't know where this stuff comes from once we buy it in the produce section. !! Process of elimination I guess I am putting a ice pack on it to make it feel better. Is this all I can do> Forget the doctor, they like to do scratch tests which I had already years ago.

Answers:
Sounds like something unknown triggered that reaction. It sounds like you are doing all that you can do by continuing the benedryl and keeping an ice pack on it. Sometimes it just takes time more than anything, which i know is frustrating and unfortunate. Good luck. You might also want to take an aspirion or tylenol since it is bothersome this will subside that
I'm guessing the odds are that it was the fish causing the reaction. Any chance a small bone nicked your lip. It will probably take 3 days before the swelling totally goes a way.
If the tilipia came from China, that fish has all kinds of horrible stuff in it.
Have you had anything to eat or drink with Splenda in it? I know it seems off topic but I had something with splenda before and my lip did the same thing. Nothing I took for medicne worked for the swelling but it went away on its own in about 1 day.
This sounds like an allergic reaction.. and because it was something you ingested, it will unfortunately take a few days to go away completely. I would be sure to ask what was in the unknown seafood salad and take note of what ingredients are in the chips... it could be a seasoning that you aren't used to causing the reaction.
It sounds like you are already doing what you can to control the reaction so now it is just a matter of time.
