How can you tell someone is losing weight by looking at their veins?

Question:
I had my blood drawn for tests and the phlebotomist who had never seen me before looked at my arm and veins and asked if I was losing weight. I was but how did she know that, she mumbled something about one of my veins. Are there any phlebotomists out there that would know the answer to this question?

Answers:
i looked around. and Varicose Veins came up repeatedly. since i dont know your age or weight you were before, even skin color. i would have to assume she noticed your Varicose Veins receding in visibility. apparently they are sensitive and if they are clotted due to pressure, they are able to be seen at the surface of the skin..losing weight takes the pressure off them.
