Weird feeling while I'm trying to sleep?

I have exactly the same thing! A nurse at my dormitory told me that it is a sign of bad blood circulation. When lying down, blood cannot reach all your limbs properly, and this counts for your brain too. The shortage of blood and oxygen in your brain causes this bizarre feeling, almost tranquilising and certainly not pleasant. What helps, is to move around more before going to sleep, and get more exercise in general. This will improve the circulation of blood in your whole body.
I hope that it is not dangerous, or a sign of a bad heart (not pumping the blood hard enough?)
I thought i was the only one who had this!
It sounds like anxiety. Are you worried about something? It might be just general stress. Sometimes it will help to take a warm bath and drink a glass of milk. I get this feeling sometimes too, only mine is just a restless feeling. If it persist you might need to see a physician.
Sounds like anxiety. Sometimes are mind waits until it is time to relax and then goes into to over drive. Speak to your doctor, if this continues. Sleep is important to your health.

i do not know how to get rid of it but maybe you are pregnant lol!
I know how you felt exactly. Last night was my 4th sleepless night. In as much as I cannot fall asleep at night, I have trouble trying to recover some lost sleep during daytime. I do not develop those panda eyes but by looking at my face, you can tell that I am very exhausted. On Thursday night, I was very drowsy being on medication for fever and cough. However, even that could not put me into actual sleep as I kept coughing very badly. On Friday evening around 11 pm, I was so tired I thought I could fall asleep straight away. HOwever, when I lie on my right side, I kept having this feeling of floating away, felt strongly especially around the chest area. I thought I was developing a heart failure of some sort. After fighting against it for fear that I would not wake up ever if I just drifted off with it, for some time, I finally gave up. I just follow the flow and tried to relax thinking if it is how people felt when they are dying, it is not so bad after all. Its like falling asleep. More so like when you look down from a very very tall building and your legs turned to jelly and the heart felt like sinking. However, I kept counting the time till 10am on Saturday morning and gave up trying to sleep. I suddenly realised that the strange feeling had disappeared but I could not pin point the exact time it disappeared. It was quite frightening though but if you just drift with it and relax, its not so bad. I Went to the doctor on Saturday afternoon and he listened to my heartbeat and said it was normal. He said it is a phenomena called heart palpitation and the heart skipped some beats and only can be detected during that moment. If it happens again, please go to the doctor and ask for an ECG. I am doing likewise. I thought I was going to experience a spiritual sort of thing but it never occured. I had this feeling for 4 continuous day in october 2005. An ECG was done at my family doctors clinic while the feeling was still there. The graph showed that my heart skipped a beat every few minutes and the doctor gave me a referral letter and told me to rush to the hospital quickly. He gave me a pill called Propanalol to take to regulate my heartbeat in the meantime in case I had a heart attack on the way. I was sent to the hospital and put on a continuous ECG monitoring machine in the ECCU dept for 8 hours but nothing was detected after that. I suspected that the pill normalised everything. After that I was given appointments at the National Heart Centre for several tests and was later discharged as they found no irregularities. All tests for the heart were performed short of a CT scan. Nothing serious had happened since then but I avoid strenous activities. Hope that helps.
Sounds like a anxiety! Try getting up and doing something relaxing. Read, warm tea, warm bath.
