I got myself a wicked sunburn at the pool this weekend. I've tried the numbing sprays with aloe but it hasn't taken the "heat" out of it. A co-worker just told me she used Milk of Magnesia when she had a sunburn. Has anyone tried this? Does it get all over your clothes/bed?

Nope.
It'll make it feel a little better, but not entirely.
Aloe. That is all you need, Aloe products come in all forms, from gels to sprays. You can purchase them at your local pharmacy.
You also can use they actual Aloe plant, but be sure to ONLY use it on the sunburn.
