How do you take a shower with an arm cast on?
Question:
Answers:
A big plastic bag and the blue 3M paint tape. Then just try to keep it out of the water as much as you can. Make sure you get the 3M tape, it comes off pretty easy and doesn't hurt much. Definitely do NOT use duct tape (owch!)
take a plastic bag and tie or tape the top of it to where the water won't go into it .But hold your arm away from under the running water the force will tear the bag, but believe me it works. My son had surgery on his thumb and we did the same to help him in the shower.
hold your arm outside the shower. or put a plastic bag over it. it sounds trashy, but it works. i would know.
Put a large plastic bag over it and secure with a large rubber band. In the shower try to keep your arm out of the water stream. You don't want to get the cast wet because it will become soft, and worthless. Have fun!
A "Hefty" trash can bag works well. Any *thick* plastic bag will do, actually.
Simply put your arm in th bag, and use a rubber band or two in order to seal the thing, about an inch or two above the cast end.
Use a second set of rubber bands another inch or so above that, creating a double seal. Masking tape above that will create a third seal, and ensure the cast stays dry.
Note: Three weeks may seem like forever, but the time passes quickly enough. (I had to do ten months for a really bad break...)
When you do get the cast off, take a bit of care, at first. You don't need to do what my buddy did -- he got the cast off, then came running out of the house with his arm up, shouting "I got it off!" Right about then, the screen door slammed shut -- on his arm -- and broke it again. <G>
Three more weeks..

you shoudn't get the cast wet otherwise it will get like soggy, soft whatever you call it, didn't the DR. tell you this ?
What I did was use a trash bag and had someone roll it around the cast and I used 2 to 3 bags so the water did not go into the bags. I hope this will help.
Put your arm in a plastic bag and tape it tightly. That should allow you to take a shower successfully
