How many pills is too many pills to take?
Question:
i have vicodin but im not sure if i should take that. It has 7.5 mg hydrocodon and 750 mg of acetominaphin. Any ideas
Answers:
ask your Dr. only one i'd trust with a serious medical question like that. or maybe a pharmacist
Aspirin can neutralize the effect of Naprosyn. Don't combine them. Tylenol does not do this.
Vicodin is stronger, and is a narcotic, and habit-forming. Use it very sparingly, only for emergency.
Keep in touch with your MD.
its too many espeically when it sounds like you have no doctor
monitoring this.
And obviously the scoliosis surgery did nothing.
Go see a doctor.
DO NOT MIX MEDICATIONS UNLESS YOU ARE A CHEMIST OR A PHARMACIST !!!
If you can make it thru the night with what you have taken then I would recommend you do so. Then start tommorrow off with the Vicodin, that is a very good generic pain medication.
I have taken that before, my pharmacist said not to take more than 2 every 4 to 6hrs. But I would take it as directed on "YOUR PRESCRIPTION"
I have several herniated disc's in my back so I can relate to the pain but maybe not the pain level.

If you aren't getting pain relief, you should consider going to a pain specialist. Adequate pain control is essential to good health.
One major warning about Tylenol (acetaminophen) though. Tylenol is broken down by the liver. One of the intermediary byproducts is toxic and taking above the recommended dosage can cause liver failure. The maximum safe dose is 4 grams (4,000mg) in a 24 hr period.
Also, you should not drink alcohol while taking Tylenol, since alcohol is also metabolized by the liver.
Take a whole Vicodin..it won't kill you either, and you'll feel so much better. Be careful.they're very addicting.
The regular strength Vicodin or Hydrocodone is 5mg, so the one you are taking is 1-1/2 times as strong, but the more severe your pain is the less anything regular strength works, so there is no problemn taking it, but like Bahasa i said the Tylenol or Acetametaphine in with the Vicodin is real bad for your liver, especially if someone has had Hepatitus or Some form of Liver disease before. If a person takes an occasional one there shouldn't be any problem but if you need something daily because of chronic pain and narcotics are the only thing that work for you then see if your Dr. would give you Oxycodone instead., which is the narcotic found in Percoset but without the buffer being Acetametaphine also. Alot easier on your liver. And before anyone has a cow thinking I'm talking about Oxcontin, it's an entirely different drug. The Naproson or ( Naproxen, Anaprox) couldn't get rid of a headache if it had to so I wouldn't worry about them at all. Also they are known to cause Rectal bleeding so they are not so great. If you have nothing else and your stomach can handle them 800mg. Ibuprophen help bigtime. I have to take 2 for mine to subside a little. If you haven't any of these because they are prescription, then 200mg. Motrin or generic over the counter Motrins if you take 4 of them then its the same as the 800mg. Ibuprophens.
34 years ago I fell off a cliff falling close to 200 feet and landing on my tailbone on a rock, then rolling another 300 feet or so, hense, over the years my discs have deteriorated to the point where there's no cushioning down there anymore at all, it now is bone against bone , with nerves being twisted and pinched between, so 2 weeks from now I'm going under the knife..so I also know what pain is all about and the Hell you have to go through trying to live day to day and still feel like you have a life, so if you're trying to deal with a back from hell like I am, then don't even consider anyone elses opinion of whether they think you are a druggy or not. They don't have to deal with it. You do.
Never feel that you have to Justify what you have to do to help alleviate pain, because unless they have been there and done that, then they have no clue what you have to go through to just get through another day because the one thing that you can take to the bank as truth is that to them, the only pain that is real is what they have felt in their lives, and most have never experienced your level of pain, and because their only point of reference may be a toothache or something similar they had when they were a kid, they think that your pain can't be real and you're probably just faking it to get attention or to get drugs. I don't know if you feel this way or not but after all this crap I've had to live with for so long, I'd give my left nut to make it not real, make me a good actor , and prove them right. My point is I've never been that bored with my life where I would feel the necessity to fake pain 24/7 for 33 years to get attention or some pain pills.
A few years ago I had a friend after getting to drunk at the bar down from my house ask if he could stay all night so he wouldn't have to drive. After a couple of years of getting on my nerves with his constant barrage of questions about why I took so many drugs for pain and that I probably didn't really need them and just wanted the buzz changed his story that night when he saw me, while he pretended to be sleeping on my couch, spend over a half an hour trying to crawl to the bathroom because of my back going out earlier.
No one has any right to call you one or consider you one unless they've been there done that, so don't ever feel like you have to explain yourself. OK? Enough already ! Good Luck
It's better to take your meds then living in pain. living in pain can cause nerve damage. Now for your meds Bayer is Aspirin which will make your stomach to bleed.Cut down on that. Naprosyn Is for inflammation I think. The Vicodin is very good for pain. The days that you know your not driving take those. When you go to bed is the best time to take your Meds. Now I knew a guy. He also had back surgery. He took way too many pain killers. He died!! It left behind 4 little boys.
Naprosyn is an anti-inflammatory, so it is suppose to help with any inflammation/swelling around the nerve, which is usually what is causing the pain. Your nerves are surrounded by tendons, muscles, etc. When the muscles, tendon's etc, swell, they press on the nerves, causing pain. The aspirin helps more with fever and minor aches and pains, it is an actual "pain reliever", for minor aches & pains. It sounds like your best bet is to take the Vicodin. As you know in the Vicodin is Hydrocodone ( a narcotic-strong pain reliever) and acetaminophen which is another name for tylenol). If the Vicodin does not help, you should seek a physicians assistance rather soon. I have had a bad back for years. I go through speals when I get my back out of "whack" just from vacuuming sometimes and my doctor taught me how to adjust my hips myself to get it back into alignment. Have you ever tried a muscle stimulator on your back. Mine helps alot. Or a muscle relaxer like soma or flexeril? You could be having back spasms and your back needs to relax in order to be able to heal on it's own. Good luck and take care of yourself. Just one little note about the vicodin, it is highly addictive, so try not to take it too long. The dose you are taking is the Extra Strength and your body does become use to it.
