Lunesta dosages?

Question:
My Doctor prescribed me 2mg of Lunesta to help me sleep, I just can not sleep at night. I took it a few times and itI does nothing. I know the dosages come in 1,2 and 3 mg. Do you think taking 2 of the 2 mgs may help? it is so hard to get in touch with the doctor I thought maybe someone out there has been through this experience. Thanks in advance!!

Answers:
4mg of Lunesta would be a very high dose, I would try taking the 2mg for SEVERAL days before deciding that that dose does not work, then you may try taking 1½ tablets (3mg) to see if that dose works better for you, the studies done on lunesta showed that doses above 3mg did not give much extra benefit as far as helping you to sleep but increased the side effects from the medicine so it is not recommended to take more than 3mg, I would however probably not take any more than the 2mg without talking to your doctor as this is a controlled substance, with the potential for addiction, and they will want to know if you are taking it in a way other than prescribed
