I agree with the nurse.
This can be a very painful injury. I would ice it in 10 minute intervals so that you don't burn the skin. Always place a cloth between the ice and you skin. 10 minutes on and 20 minutes off is a pretty safe routine.
Ice will reduce inflammation and help with any discomfort/pain. You don't automatically have to reach for an over the counter NSAID, like ibuprofen as every drug has some counter effect. At the same time there is no reason to be in pain, so just use your best judgment. Also, avoid any physical activity that causes pain to the tail bone area for the next 6 weeks.
Hi there
I would put some ice on it at regular intervals and take paracetemol and ibuprofen at regularly through the day. Try to rest and avoid putting any undue pressure on it. It should improve in a day or two.
Just use pain killers to ease the pain as best you can...no treatment other than rest...it will ease, but will take time...put your feet up if you can.
have a warm blanket or a heating pad, place it the painful area.Try to have a nice comfortable bed or mattress, have a bed rest.Consult a physician if it doen't subside within 24 hours.
I've done this before & my heart goes out to you - it's agony.Unfortunately there's not alot you can do about it - it just gets better on it's own.Take some painkillers & just try and get comfy when your sitting down, try not to walk to far.Mine took about ten days in total to get better.
hi, this happened to my mum and aside from pain killers etc, the doc reccomended she get a ''do-nut'' pillow for when she is sitting down. its basically a round pillow with a hole in the centre (hence the name) that will help to alleviate the pain and not put any pressure on your lower back when sitting. i am not sure where u can get one from in the uk, but a good place to start looking would be ebay!
good luck and i hope u feel better soon! just take it easy! x
