I had bunion surgery about two months ago, but still having some swelling in my ankle while sitting at work.?

Question:
Is this normal? Also, I never walk barefoot, because of some sensitivity on a couple of spots on the bottom of my foot. I am going to physical therapy and he says all these things are normal. Are they?

Answers:
I, too, had surgery on my foot last year and the swelling and discoloration persisted for months but I wore some tight-fitting, elastic hose that the foot doctor prescribed--like the ones bedridden patients wear. That helped a lot. I bought them at one of those medical supply houses (Binson's in the Detroit area). They are called T.E.D. hose.
P.S.--You may want to try limiting your salt intake and elevating your foot as often as possible.
Yes, this will still be normal for about 6 months to a year...and yes, a light compression garment may be of benfit such as a JOBST or MEDI knee high at 20-30mmHG.but be sure to be fitted by a professional to make sure there is not too much pressure across the top of the ankle.
I had bunion surgery on both feet at the same time, along with a hammer toe fixed, 10 years ago. It took a good year before my feet were finally pain free and I could waer cute shoes. Did the doc say anything about cortizone shots? Sitting can cause the swelling so try to elevate your foot, during the day.
