Is my lawyer telling me what I think he is?
Question:
California has cut payable benifits in half for injured workers, and he thinks he could get the full amount if I wanted to. Both sides agreed with the findings, and that I would probably be looking at $70,000.00, if it just ended now. My Lawyer has been fighting my case for 1 year, and I have been to court three times. Multiple doctors, and one phychologist have been involved in this case. What do you think?
Answers:
This is a matter for further discussion with the lawyer, but if to get the $130,000 requires a court judgment, be aware that such may happen -- or not. Absent further info, I'd say take the money and run.
yes no maybe what?
I'm in the same boat. Take the settlement. It's not worth the pain and suffering to keep dragging it out. It takes an emotional toll on you. I know it's a little less than you want, but live money on the table is worth more than possible money later on. Good luck.
Weigh the $ the attorney is getting against the time involved.
If you can get the entire amount you should. Latter, when you're unable to work and earn a living you will need it.
Is this the amount AFTER the lawyer fees? A lot of people just settle because they can't last any longer with no money or because of just dealing with the crap. My uncle has been in a case like this for several years now and refuses to settle. He wants what is ENTITLED to him. If you can make it and wait it out...i would suggest that, but if you can't then take the money, just make sure that you will have something left after the lawyers fees. Good luck.
