Answers:
I have chronic epstein barr and have myalgic pain.
I alternate between the below depending on the day and my plans.
OTC - ( 1 ) 8 hr tylenol and ( 1 ) Xtra strength Ecotrin at the same time - seems to hit all the pain centers.
Herbal - Zyflammend ( great stuff, sometimes works better than anything above - my doc recommended it )
Aleve Liquid gel capsules..
Excedrin Migraine.
Booze.
Oh wait, not screwed me up? Hmm, that's harder.
The eipdural spinal injections worked for me. I have had 2 in the upper neck and 2 in the lumbar. Other than a couple days of feeling very tired, I've had no side affects (well, other than a few hot flashes and detoxing the odor of the med's for a couple days). I consider them a miracle worker. It is incredible to get up with no pain. Talk to your doctor about them. Nothing else worked for me.
After 2 seperate injuries, broken bone and sprained ankle, and pain medications that did nothing, I went back to the old standby of Iboprofen and received instant relief. I was so surprised but it really did the job ! A couple of examples are Advil and Motrin. Certainly less expensive, also ! If you have a more serious health problem then discount this answer, as I am not medically trained.

Darvon 65, Darvocet, Demerol...the only Rx's that haven't screwed up my stomach...Don't ever take Torodol...screws with the bladder muscles and you can't p.
For physical pain I usually take Advil
For psychological pain I spend more time on YouQA.com
ultram works pretty good, as long as you don't take a lot more than you're supposed to, it won't get you high.
peace
it was prescribed by doc, flexeril : for muscle spasms
When I had gout, they gave me all kinds of things. Most of the codines interferred with my breathing. So they did the real stuff, and I needed it. It didn't screw me up, it stopped the pain. Pain was screwing me up.
