Knee pain?

Question:
I am having difficulty with my knees...have been for the past few years or so. I am a 21 year old female who did not partake in any demanding sport and I am 5'8" and 130 pounds so I am not putting excess weight on my knees, so I find it weird that I would be experiencing this type of pain and weakness in my knees. From what I have found on the internet, I have it narrowed down to chondromalacia or patellofemoral pain syndrome. My symptoms are: I can feel grinding and popping in my knees when I extend them out from a seated position. When walking up stairs I will start to put weight on a leg and find that my knee feels too unstable to support...so I will have to step back down and use the other leg to walk up the stairs. When doing lunges or squats I can hear a "POP" associated with knee pain...everytime...not just once. Sometimes when walking I can feel my knee "catching" and then it will pop and then it will start to feel normal. I need help in deciding what to do about this.

Answers:
get an MRI. I just had my knee operated on with the same symptoms. It ended up being a torn maniscis. I tore mine reunning, but they said allot of it had to do with me being bow legged and putting undo stress on the inside of the knee. Hope this helps. you will only realy know after an MRI though.
maybe ur just tall for ur age...
im 13 and im 5 foot 8 and i experience the same pains
I would see an Orthopedist, like months ago. I don't mean to be fresh but you know something is wrong so why are you asking us and not a doctor.
the answer is not here, go see a doctor. get x-ray done, and start medication. by the way way to a healthy body is by exercising, but in Ur condition that too must b done only after consulting a specialist doctor
I had the same problem once and found that laying off for a few weeks and icing my knees twice a day during that period (lots of inflammation going on). After that period I started with light leg extensions and ham curls. instead of adding weight for two weeks I added more reps instead of weight for that period and then I added more weight . I also got on a balancing platform to add strength to my stabilizing muscles surrounding my knees. I am pain free. Don't get frustrated, it's just a process that you got to go through to get better.
Sounds like OA to me, see a doctor. Everytime I trip over my cat, my knee pops back into place and it hurts like hell, but then after that, it feels better for awhile. I do not think you should try tripping over the cat. I have OA.
