Can I take chantix and use the patch also to quit smoking?

You can take Chantix or the patch but taking both won't give you any added benefits. Somehow Chantix causes the brain receptors to not get the "high" from nicotine so taking a nicotine patch with Chantix wouldn't help.
I took Chantix from October through December of last year. It worked great to get rid of the physical cravings but it did require some will power to overcome the behavioral habit of smoking.
The main side effects seem to be trouble sleeping, upset stomach and vivid dreams. I had all 3 but the first 2 went away after my body got used to the medicine.

Tell your doctor about all your other medicines incluiding prescription and nonprescription medicines, especially if you take:
- insulin
- asthma medicines
- blood thinners

DO NOT use any substitutes like patches, pills, etc, they simply DO NOT work. all you need to do is read a book, aznd as soon as you finish it, you will no longer be a smoker, with NO withdrawals. the book is amazing! worked on me like a charm, and read all the reviews on amazon.
