I recently suffered a Grade One strained calf muscle while running — can I swim for exercise while I recover?

Question:
If not, what kind of exercise can I do?

Answers:
Yes, but dont overdo it in the first week after the injury. If you push it you can get quite painfull muscle spasm that can leave a nasty but harmless bruise. Id suggest backstroke for your first few days of swimming, it puts less of a strain on the muscle.
Mild swimming would be fine. I wouldn't kick your legs vigorously, though, you could end up with a leg cramp since it's already strained. But otherwise, you should be fine.
